Neighborhood Center
When Carver Community Organization opened its doors at the corner of Lincoln and Morton in the late 1940s, it soon became a strong neighborhood center for family activities,
education-related programs and, later, childcare. We have always maintained those programs, regardless of our location, and now we are preparing to return to the neighborhood. In this way, we are
taking the best of the past-the neighborhood setting-and building upon it to ensure the future of our children. Located at 400 SE Eighth Street, our new facility will be named the Carver Neighborhood Center.
More Childcare Advantages
For more than 30 years, Carver has been providing quality childcare and preparing children to succeed in school, from the earliest grades into college. With more than 10,000 square feet allocated
for our new childcare center, we can more than double the number of children enrolled in our childcare programs, to 157 each for first and second shifts. Included in that number will be up to 16 infants and
40 one and two-year-olds - a service urgently needed by Evansville's working parents. Our facility will be specially designed to safely accommodate the children in a secure and pleasant environment.
Other Advantages
The Carver Neighborhood Center offers these additional advantages:
- Expanded educational programs
- Economic development through the addition of several dozen new jobs
- Improved Resource Center and computer lab
- 235-seat multi-purpose room for community events
- Conference rooms and classrooms available for public use
